So I was in Core today and we were talking about slavery and whether or not it was right or wrong and how it was defined and protected in the Constitution. One of my classmates pointed out that to Hitler and his followers, what they were dong by persecuting millions of people because of religion was right, even though to the rest of the world it was wrong. After he made that comment, I said "Well, when it comes to right and wrong there is no correct answer. There is no black and white because it's all about perspective." Well, my professor looked at me and said, "Well, this is not Core 412 this is Core 122." I just wanted to cry I was so embarrassed. In my head I was like, "Did I really just get yelled at for making an observation?"
Was I wrong to say that? I'll never know. Oh well. Time for Communications homework. Yay.
Peace and love,
Caitlin
You shouldn't got yelled at for making your opinion that's what Core is for speaking what you think about the assigned readings. However; I think slavery and the Holocaust was wrong simply because, it restricts an individuals rights and nobody should get tortured for being innocent.
ReplyDeleteI agree, they were wrong. But my point in class was that to another culture they weren't wrong, and that's where areas become gray. Think about another topic that wasn't about mass-murder: abortion is just as controversial, and there are two sides to the argument. Some people believe it's wrong, some don't. Nothing is black and white anymore.
ReplyDeleteWOW! That's so stupid, your teacher is a B*... :) Just kidding. Teachers ask you to express yourself and give your opinion but when you do she says that, how stupid. The least she could have done was switch the topic. Its ok though Cait, at least you know whats going on in the world!!
